Step 2: get the script right
A character conversation is not a monologue split in two. Every line should react to the one before it. If you can delete a line and nothing breaks, delete it.

- Keep lines short. Under 25 words. Long lines lose the rhythm.
- Let one character be wrong. Agreement is not funny and it is not watchable.
- Say the topic out loud in the first two lines, not the fifth.
- End on the punchline, then stop. Do not explain the joke afterwards.
- Read it aloud before you generate. If it is boring to read, it is boring to hear.
Step 3: win the first three seconds
Short form video is decided almost immediately. Your opening line is the whole hook, because the visuals are the same gameplay clip everyone else is using.
Start in the middle. "Explain why airport food costs more than the flight" works. "Hey, I was thinking about airports today" does not.
Step 4: voices, pace and the quiet character
Each character brings its own voice, so there is nothing to assign. What you do choose is the speed, and whether the character who is not talking stays dimmed on screen or disappears.
1.2 speed suits most scripts. At 1.0 the voices read rather than talk. Dimming keeps both characters visible, which suits an argument. Hiding puts all the attention on whoever is speaking, which suits a story.
